Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Hagrid's Rock Cakes

Well I hope that everyone had a fantastic Christmas and you are enjoying some time off with your families! We had a lovely Christmas and just before the festivities began, we continued our Harry Potter Marathon.

The Harry Potter Marathon continues this week with film number 6. Not my personal favourite - I was slightly disappointed when I saw this one in the cinema but I enjoyed it this week all the same. I couldn't have done a Harry Potter sweet treat marathon without Hagrids famous rock cakes (warning - these rock cakes will NOT break your teeth - although they look like Hagrid's rock cakes - they are edible - and quite delicious!)

They are made using my Mum's scone recipe that is amazing! To make them into rock cakes we added a little extra milk and just dropped them on the baking tray not caring about neatness! This was probably the quickest and easiest Harry Potter treat I have done but boy were they delicious!

Rock Cakes

1/2 lb Self Raising Flour
1/8 lb Butter
1/8 lb Sugar
1 egg
4 oz raisins
Milk

1. Rub butter and flour together until you get a powdery consistency with all the butter blended
2. Add raisins and stir. Add sugar and combine
3. Add egg and combine
4. Add a splash of milk and combine. Keep adding milk until you have a consistency that is slightly more cakey than rollable!
5. Using a spoon put a lump of dough on baking parchment not worrying about presentation - these are rock cakes after all!
6. Bake at 180C for 15 minutes or until golden brown as in the picture
7. Enjoy

Cannot wait to re-watch the final Harry Potter movies now!

Love Rebecca
