The Olympic torch is coming to York this week (so exciting!). So I needed something to where when I join the people lining the streets and see the torch pass through our city - enter the GB team kit - inspired hoody!
I bought a plain grey hoody from sports direct in one of their sales with the intention of Olympicifying (yes, olympicifying!) it.
I was inspired by the Great Britain team kit which is white, turquoise and different shades of blue. So, I bought all of the blue fabric paint I could find and set to work :)

I used freezer paper stencils - for full tutorial check out this post - to paint the stars on the front and the text on the back.
Click on the picture to get the template for the sizes of stars I used. To get the pattern I simply measured my top and cut a piece of freezer paper the correct size - make sure to consider pockets!
Then I traced stars on, starting with the largest in the bottom right hand corner and ending up with the smallest star in the top left, near my arm. This created the cascade of stars I had envisaged!
Next, I marked next to each star the colour I wanted to paint it, cut out the stencil and painted the stars. They only needed two coats - the blues provided really good coverage - but it did take several hours to dry.
Click on the picture below to get the template for the text on the back. I used a college-style font to add a sporty element.
The final touch was a small union jack sew on patch sewn on the left sleeve - mine was just 3cm x 2cm. And that's it... one London 2012 Hoody ready for the Olympics!
Have a great weekend!
Love Rebecca

What a great idea! I remember (years and years ago) when the Olympic torch came through our town. It was so amazing.
